Nadir is an evocative novel in progress that delves into the life of Zero, who, after a near-death experience, reunites with his sisters, Joanie and Yamila, for one final weekend at their old beach house. This poignant gathering marks the culmination of Zero's earthly journey, intertwining memories he's beginning to forget with the creative process of self-discovery.

Chapters 01-03

The sky pressed down upon his eyes. Stars, like shards of glass, were strewn across an endless darkness.

He lay on the edge of the bed, his mind drifting through the haze of pain and confusion.

Chapters 07-09

When he opened his eyes, his sister was crying on his chest. The room, a blur, revealed a paramedic frozen by surprise, rolling the EKG equipment back, electrodes dangling, eyes wide behind thick glasses.

Chapters 10-11

In the beach house, things stood still, unmoved by time. Zero had made it his lair, his refuge from the failures that clung to him, like being a good husband or father. Brokenness isn’t free. It comes with scars, wounds from shattered glass flying at the speed of hate and resentment through the dining room.

Chapters 12-14

Besides Joanie, Sam, Zero’s daughter, was the first to know about his cancer. After completing her BFA at RISD, she traded the quiet of Providence for the restlessness of New York City, where she began working as a book designer for Wanton House, the esteemed publisher.

Chapters 15-17

The first night at the beach house, after what he called his eerie vision, he sat by the double-leaf window. The saline wind penetrated his nostrils, expanding his lungs like the words from the “Cancer Patient Manual.”
